Peapod # 98564

Fully restored this peapod for a client over the winter. Hoping to find the original build information. All the wood is original minus a small rot repair on the inner stem tops and deck (should have been built with a weep hole).

Serial number 98564

Welcome and congratulations, the Old Town with serial number 98564 is a 16 foot long, AA (or top) grade, extra large Double End Boat model with a 48 inch beam, open mahogany gunwales, mahogany decks, mahogany seats, a keel, and a floor rack. It was built in 1928. The original exterior paint color was dark green from Valspar. It shipped on July 16th, 1928 to Ballston Spa, New York. A scan of this build record can be found below.

This scan and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will donate, join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See https://www.woodencanoe.org/about to learn more about the WCHA and https://www.woodencanoe.org/shop to donate or join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match. The page describing this boat from the 1928 catalog is attached at the bottom of this page. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions. Nice restoration,

Benson
