Enthusiastic about Wooden Canoes
I grabbed a canoe that was destined for the dump. It’s 16’ the ends have a bit of torpedo to them. The deck is skinny and heart shape with some radius to them.
It’s hard to tell if the gunwales are capped as it has had some repair work and fiberglass added.

The inner stem widens way out and does not extend far into the canoe.

I know I’ve seen boats like this but can’t remember what builder.

Maybe Kennebec?

Ideas?

Rushton? Deck is certainly similar but the profile looks different.

My guess is a Morris. Is there any sign of a serial number tag on the stem, inside rail near the bow, or bow seat frame edge? See the link below for some examples.

Yes, you've got a Morris. Decks, stems, etc. are typical. Looks like the original rivets are still there, pushed up into the inside. Morris riveted on the stem bands. This canoe has led a rough life, but the hull looks to be in reasonable shape. Not sure but it looks like the exterior may be fiberglassed - bummer if so, but reversible.
