For some reason my cd with this number on it won't work on my machine. I believe this is the correct number, although the other end looks like 86276 17.
Thanks, Gil

The Old Town canoe with serial number 86376 is 16 feet long so that isn't a good match. My guess is that you have the one with number 86376. This is a 17 foot long, CS (common sense or middle) grade, HW (heavy water) model with red Western cedar planking, open spruce gunwales, birch decks, birch thwarts, birch seats, a keel, and sponsons. It was built between December, 1924 and April, 1925. The original exterior paint color was dark green. It shipped on April 17th, 1925 to Brooklyn, New York.

Scans showing both of these build records can be found below. These scans and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others as you probably know well. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will donate, join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See https://www.woodencanoe.org/about to learn more about the WCHA and https://www.woodencanoe.org/shop to donate or join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if these descriptions don't match the canoe. Let me know if you would like a new copy of the build records to replace your CD. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.

Thanks Benson, but neither of these work. I will look again. Don't know why this cd won't work.

It may help if you can provide some pictures of the serial numbers from each end.
