What epoxy is best for new rib tip?

Hello,

What brand or type of epoxy should I use on the scarf of a new rib tip? I read to use a “thick paste epoxy” in the W&C Canoe book.

A separate question is can I nail through this epoxy when I reattach some planking or will it crack and damage/weaken the joint?

Thank you!

Brian
I use GFlex epoxy and Titebond III for all my repairs. Either will work fine for rib tip scarfs.
The joint will likely be stronger than the surrounding wood… nail away!

I cut the angles with a hand held belt sander and the new tip with a bench top belt sander.
