Vintage wooden canoes now a lot cheaper in Canada

Wooden Canoes are in the Blood
To my American friends. Due to exchange rates the American dollar is now worth about 20% more than the Canadian dollar. For example, a $2500 Canadian bought canoe will only cost about $2000 in US dollars. Might be well worth a trip into Canada too buy that Chestnut, Peterborough or Huron you always wanted ........ and I happen to have a few advertised in the WCHA classifieds. :)

Good point, Dave! And unless those who are building new canoes in Canada have raised their prices, there'd be some Modern Classics that would be a deal now, too!

If you buy privately here in BC there are no sales taxes on most items including canoes. I think it is probably the same in the other provinces. Check with your seller.

I wish I have the money right now so I could pull the trigger on a 17' Chestnut Prospector from Headwaters.
