Enthusiastic about Wooden Canoes
Hello,
Me and the Mrs are heading to the Boston area for a mini vacation next weekend. I'm looking for suggestions for things to do and see. Are there any canoe related places to put on my list?

Thanks,
Lex

I would check the members list and call some of the canoe makers and restorers to see if I could visit to see their set ups, techiques and expertise. Just a suggestion and with a little brain picking you could possibly get some information that would be useful someday...Dont forget to try the fish, clam or corn chowders, and Boston Baked Beans!:D ....LOL

Go for a Paddle?

If you want to go for a paddle you could spend some time on the Charles and paddle by the favorite haunts of all those old time Charles River paddlers and their courting canoes. The Newton to Waltham section is nice and there are rentals at Charles River Canoe and Kayak next to RT 128. There may be some foliage starting to show soon too.

The Concord and Sudbury Rivers are also good places to paddle that are relatively wild and less developed. The Sudbury is a good birding river. Paddle under The Old North Bridge in the Minuteman National Park etc. There are rentals available at the South Bridge Boathouse in Concord.

Old Ironsides and the Naval Yard are a good nautical stop.

You could see my "shop", but you might hurt yourself and there is very little worth seeing. :) :p

Let me know if you need additonal info.
