Strip built rowboat

Enthusiastic about Wooden Canoes
Hi
I just restored this strip built boat and trying to figure out who built it. Red cedar ship-lap planks, oaks ribs and gunwales, cedar decks. mahogany deck battens and knees. Owner said her grandmother bought it before the 40's. On Stoney lake in the Peterborough area. Sticker from Peel Marine on the bow.
Any one know who made it. Thanks.

Walter Walker worked at Peel Marine...
If it was built during his time there, he may have signed under a deck....

I'm not familiar with Peel Marine and assumed it was just a marina that sold boats. Were they a boat building company? What time range?
I do know of Walter Walker and will ask the owners to look under the deck.
Thanks Kevin

Hi Kevin,

Peel Marine is still in business in Lakefield and they have a website:
http://www.peelmarine.ca/
Click on "Cedar Strip Boats" and you see that in addition to canoes and other boats, they still build a 16' copper-fastened cedarstrip skiff that appears to be like the one you restored.
