I am looking for any information with regards to a canoe that is being refurbished. The hull# 158937, any information would be great. Thanks

Old Town 156937 is an 18 foot CS (common sense, or middle) grade Guide Special canoe that was completed December 1952--> April 1953. It has a keel and bilge keels and was originally painted guide special green. It was shipped April 9, 1953, to Ray's Canoe Livery in Grayling, MI. The scan of this record is attached below-- click on it to get a larger image.

This scan and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you and anyone else reading this will join or renew membership in the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/join.php to renew.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.

Happy Paddling!
Kathy

serial search

Thank you for your efforts, but the serial number is 158937 without a doubt, it is an Old Town canoe 18' in length, but not the right canoe. If anyone has furhter information it would be greatly appreciated.

Correct Record

Hello again,

I made a typo in my explanation of your build record--- the record posted above is for canoe 158937. If you click on it, look in the upper right corner and you'll see the number is correct. If the record otherwise doesn't match your canoe, we can look further.

I do have an appointment to get new glasses, but this was an error related to my fingers...
