My guess is that you have the Old Town canoe with serial number 155766. This is an 18 foot long, CS (Common Sense or middle) grade, Guide's model with western red cedar planking, open spruce gunwales, half ribs, a keel, and sponsons. It was built between April and May, 1951. The original exterior paint color was Guide's Special Green. It shipped on May 28th, 1951 to Dearborn, Michigan. A scan showing this build record can be found by following the link at the attached thumbnail image below.
This scan and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at
http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See

The Old Town canoe with serial number is an 18 foot long Otca model with long mahogany decks and trim but no sponsons. It shipped to Hiram, Maine in 1919. Posting some pictures here might help if you are not sure which one is yours. It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if neither of these descriptions match your canoe. One of the restorers listed at
http://www.wcha.org/buildsupply/ may be your best source of refurbishing materials. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions,
