The Old Town canoe with serial number 184034 is a 16 foot long FG (fiberglass) model. It was built between October and November, 1968. The original exterior gelcoat colors were avocado on the deck with celery on the hull. It shipped on June 16th, 1970 to Mt. Kisco, New York. If you have a wooden canoe from the 1940s with no seats then my guess is that you have the one with number 134034. This is a 16 foot long, CS (common sense or middle) grade, low end HW (heavy water) model with open spruce gunwales, ash decks, ash thwarts in place of seats, ash finish rails, and a keel. It was built between November, 1941 and June, 1943. The original exterior paint color was aluminum. It shipped on June 29th, 1943 to Caywood, New York. Scans of these build records can be found by following the links at the attached thumbnail images below.
These scans and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at
http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See
http://www.wcha.org/about-the-wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. There is some good information at
http://forums.wcha.org/showthread.php?57 about how to value and sell a wooden canoe like this one. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
