This scan and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/about-the-wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://store.wcha.org/WCHA-New-Membership.html to join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe.

Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.

Thank you, Greg. My memory guessed slightly earlier but the record tells. I have a photograph of my 9-yr old self happily immersed in the swamped canoe :)
The build record would place it at a marina a mile from my mothers home in Bolton Landing, from where I retrieved it recently to begin restoration. The wide planking mentioned is 4" vertical grain; the keel is white oak; stem bands are aluminum. The 5/8" ringnails in plank ends and garboards are steel!
It was previously restored (date unknown): several ribs replaced and some plank patched, ends scarfed on the rails, and recanvassed. The (re)builder used galvanized staples to stretch the canvas to the ribs; these staples are rusted but intact (but the canvas isn't).
It now needs all that again, and more. Half a dozen ribs; some plank, and canvas. And this time the stem heads are more badly rotted -- rail ends, stem heads, and decks need restoring. Someone in my family had a penchant for leaving this canoe upturned on the ground.

Thank you again.
