Hello

I am new to this site but not new to canoe building. I have acquired #145839 and will restore her.

can the powers that be please find and share the build sheet and any info so that I know what is correct to this canoe?

Thanks in advance,

Bill

The Old Town canoe with serial number 145839 is an 18 foot long, CS (Common Sense or middle) grade, Guide model with open spruce gunwales, ash decks, ash thwarts, ash seats, a keel, bilge keels, a mast seat, and a mast step. It was built between June and September, 1946. The original exterior paint color was G. S. (Guide's Special) green . It was shipped on September 23rd, 1946 to Canaan, New Hampshire. It returned to the factory for repairs on September 4th, 1964. A scan of this build record can be found by following the link at the attached thumbnail image below.

This scan and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/about-the-wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://store.wcha.org/WCHA-New-Membership.html to join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description don't match the canoe. The specifications listed at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/specific.gif should help you determine what is correct for this canoe. See http://store.wcha.org/The-Complete-Old-Town-Canoe-Company-Catalog-Collection-CD-ROM.html for more information like this. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
