Ot #186003 18

The Old Town canoe with serial number 186003 is an 18 foot long fiberglass Carleton model with no keel. It was built in July, 1972. The original exterior gelcoat color was blue. It shipped on September 1st, 1972 to Glens Falls, New York. The back side of the record indicates that it had a problem which required a patch on the bottom left side. Scans showing both sides of this build record can be found by following the links at the attached thumbnail images below.

These scans and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others as you probably know well. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/about-the-wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://store.wcha.org/WCHA-New-Membership.html to join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.

Thanks Benson. The owner must have made a mistake in reading the number as that doesn't correspond at all with the canoe he photographed. I'll check further.

As suspected the number given was incorrect. Here is the correct one: 166003 18. The owner wants to sell. It needs new canvas as the paint/filler is checked, but is in great condition otherwise. It is white with paint design #4 and has always been stored indoors. Zap the build record when you find time.

Thanks,
Max
