My Dad just bought this canoe a few days ago. I'd like to try and get some info on it and give him that info for Father's Day. Any help you could give would be very much appreciated. Hi,
Your dad's canoe is a 16' CS grade (middle grade) Yankee Model with open spruce gunwales, ash decks, thwarts and seats. It has half ribs, outside stems and a keel, and was originally painted dark red. It was built in 1943 and sold to Ulhigh Canoe Livery in Cranford, NJ.
The scan of this record is attached below-- click on it to get a larger image. This scan and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others.
