old town canoe molded pack baskets when were they made ??

hope its all right to post in this forum. have had it a few years. I bought it along with some traps. never seen one again. and live in area where they were made. just like to know when and how many were made. thanks for any history on this

The plastic pack baskets from the Old Town Canoe Company were made in the 1970s as a way to test rotational molding techniques. The first tests were with two pie plates and this was an interim step in scaling the processes up to something as big as a canoe or a kayak. I don't know how many were made and am not aware of any available records that would document the total. They were not assigned serial numbers as far as I know. There were quite a few in use holding a variety of things around the old factory. Feel free to reply here if this doesn't answer your question,

thanks. I was just wondering about it. I still use it to carry traps. they take a beaten and still work and look good. nice basket
