Can you confirm the length of this canoe and get some pictures of the numbers from each end to share here. I've checked this and several similar numbers but didn't find a double ended canoe that was 16 feet long. The scans showing these build records can be found by following the links at the attached thumbnail images below.
These scans and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others as you probably know well. Carleton???
It is not likely to be a Carleton since their serial numbers shown at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/carleton/carleton_chart.html stop in the low 20K range.
