I would like more information on my Old Town 15' canoe that I finished restoring. The SN is 73662

Thanks

Mark

The Old Town canoe with serial number 73662 is a 15 foot long, CS (common sense or middle) grade, Fifty Pound model with red western cedar planking, open spruce gunwales, birch decks, birch thwarts, birch seats, a keel, and a floor rack. It was built between October and December, 1922. The original exterior paint color was dark green. It shipped on March 13th, 1923 to Wapakoneta, Ohio.

A scan showing this build record can be found by following the link at the thumbnail image attached below. This scan and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/about-the-wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://store.wcha.org/WCHA-New-Membership.html to join.

Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions or pictures to share.

Thank you for the info...I am a member forgot to post the number. I now hope to bring the canoe up to Grand Marais, MN for the North House Wooden Boat Show in June. With the help of Jeanne Bourquin, Peter Pestalozzi and Dan Strootman over the last 7 years I now have a wonderful piece of history.

Thanks Again!
