Old Town 13'

Greetings,
I have recently acquired a 13' Old Town 50lb canoe (in need of repair). I am curious to know how rare are Old Town 13' canoes? Any information on the Old Town smaller canoes will be appreciated.
Thank you,
Jody Bronson

Congratulations, the page at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/models.html indicates that there were an estimated total of 1447 of these produced between 1928 and 1966 which works out to an average of about 37 per year. This gives it a rank of 18th on the overall list of canoes just below the 16 foot Guide's model and above the 11 foot version. The form still exists so you might be able to special order one today. Let me know if this doesn't answer your question or if you want more details.

The original 15 foot version of the fifty pound model was introduced in the 1910 catalog as a single grade. The 13 foot version of the fifty pound model was introduced in the 1926 catalog and was available in both the AA and CS grades. Both grades were replaced with a single grade on all models in the 1957 catalog. Therefore the answer depends on the age of the canoe. The message at http://forums.wcha.org/showthread.php?11451 indicates that yours was built in 1960 so they were all one grade at that time as they are now. Let me know if this doesn't answer your question.
