Missing Build Record

Those of you with the Build Record cd's probably know this but I just learned. I was looking for the build record for 140150 and it wasn't where it belonged so I started at the beginning and thought I'd look through a couple of hundred to see if it were misfiled.

Well dozens of build records were in the group at the beginning of 140000 and they seem to be all records that show repairs or inquires where the new name was typed on the back of the card. They were in reverse order with 140981 first.

Paper record systems typically have misfile rates between 1% to 5% and these seem to fall within that range. Often records that are not in sequence have been just stuffed in the front or the back of the box. Other times I find them in the right place but in the wrong box (i.e. one or two thousand too high or too low). The period from the 1940s to the 1950s seems to be particularly bad. I've tried to keep track when I find ones out of place as listed below. Good luck,

The 149128 records are misfiled after the 150128 records.
The 154377 record is with the 151000 records at 60637.
The 151548 record is with the 154000 records at 58628.
The 148860 record is with the 145000 records at 15546.
The 158642 record is misfiled as file no. 00570A in the 110000 folder, between the build records for OT 110530 and OT 110532
The 249219 record is misfiled at the end of the 224000 box.
93163 is in the 101K box.

Thanks Benson, it is good to know that the missing records can sometimes be found. More kudos to you for your work over the years with Old Town Canoe history!
