Last Paddle of 2023

Nick Dennis

WCHA UK
A few members of the UK Chapter got together for an end of year paddle on 30th December. We met at the Ferry House Inn on the River Yare and once fortified by a hearty breakfast some opted for a walk whilst four of us took on the river and the wilderness of Surlingham Broad. It's a maze in the reeds and some fallen trees made it challenging in places and I was heard to utter that word which sounds like the Thai resort of Phuket at the momemt that I found myself hanging from a tree bough limitating a giant orange Sloth as the Chestnut tipped over and was slowly filling with water beneath me. I was rescued by the team and with pride restored but with wet knees we did the loop. A great adventure to end the year. Of course we went in the pub after. Happy New Year. A compilation of all our photos.

You are making us jealous Nick since there are few places stateside were one can have a paddle and then go to the pub afterwards!

We have to make the most of pubs while we still have them: In the first half of this year +380 closed, that's more than the whole of 2022.
