Can you give me any info about my canoe with the serial #100055? I was thinking of listing it on ebay. Thanks, milly

The Kennebec canoe with number 100055 is a 17 foot long "Kineo Special" model shown on page 302 of volume three in the Kennebec ledgers. It was planked by Roy on February 24th, 1923. The canvas covering was applied by Tuttle on March 3rd, 1923. The first filler coat was applied by Grant on the same day. It was railed by Judkins on March 31st, 1923. The original color was red. It was shipped on May, 2nd 1923 to location "23-259". This location is probably an order number but we don't currently have enough information to identify it.

The scans of these build records can be found by following the links at the attached thumbnail images below. These original Kennebec records are reproduced through the courtesy of the Maine State Museum.

The microfilms and scans of these records were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA). I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/join.php to join.

More information about this and other Kennebec models can be found in the Kennebec catalogs contained on the Historic Wood Canoe and Boat Company Catalog Collection CDs available from http://www.wcha.org/catalog/ and http://www.dragonflycanoe.com/cdrom.htm on the web.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Another way to find an good home for your canoe is to list it at http://classifieds.wcha.org/ in the classifieds here. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
