Kennbec 154-14

Kennebec serial numbers usually don't contain a dash so I'm not sure which record goes with this one. They assigned number 154 to a 16 foot long Buzz Boy model boat in 1927 and then assigned this number again to a six foot long Kiddie Craft model in 1931. You have described it as a canoe so my guess is that you probably have their number 15414. That number was assigned to a 16 foot long Kennebec model type a as shown on page 175 of volume three in the Kennebec ledgers. It was planked by Roundy on October 29th, 1921. The canvas covering and first filler coat was applied by Tuttle on the same day. Tuttle applied the second filler coat on the March 11th, 1922. The rest of that line is blank on the second page so the original color, shipping location, shipping date, and other information is not available.

The scans of these build records can be found by following the links at the attached thumbnail images below. These original Kennebec records are reproduced through the courtesy of the Maine State Museum.

The microfilms and scans of these records were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA). I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/join.php to join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
