Now that I know ( well almost sure) that I have a Robertson short deck 16 footer does anyone have any info on years that the canoe might have been built?

It's got closed gunwales.

Robertson started building canvas canoes at least as early as 1895, and right on through 1935, when he died.

J.R. Robertson Co., Inc., survived as a company until the late 1950s.

Closed gunwale canoes are typically earlier. Most companies phased them out between 1910 and 1920.
