Information requested for Old Town Canoe

Hi Fred!

120769 is an 18 foot Guide Special grade, Guide model canoe, which was painted (guess what color) guide special green! The planking is Maine cedar (and they spelled that out completely instead of using the initials "MC"). It has open spruce gunwales, oak decks, oak seats, and oak thwarts and was fitted with a keel.

The canoe went to R.C. Price and Company of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on June 23, 1937.

If this doesn't match the canoe, we can keep trying.

The scan of this record is attached below. As you know, scans of approximately 210,000 records were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. Additional information about the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details.

I know you're a member of WCHA and we'll be seeing you in Peterborough (are you stoked? We are!). Others reading this who aren't members yet should join WCHA or make a tax deductible contribution so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA, http://www.wcha.org/wcha_video.php to watch a 10 minute video about WCHA and our programs and http://www.wcha.org/join.php to join.

Kathryn,

Thank you for the quick reply. I didn't need another project boat but the price was right and it's in better shape then some of the other ones I've bought, and bla bla bla. I'm sure you've heard the rest. I can't help myself.

We are packed and will pull out early Tuesday morning. Looking forward to meeting everyone and putting faces to the names we've read so many times.

Later, Fred
