half ribs?

Ok , just had a quick look at a 1938 HW model. The half ribs are not between the ribs but on top of the regular ribs. Has anyone seen this before, why was it done? Didn't get a close look it was on top of a car. Dave

I've not see this done before and my guess is that someone was 'sistering' the ribs as a repair. Others may have a more informed suggestion.

Half ribs over just a few ribs, or a lot of them? Canoes that were used by camps that did canoe-camping trips using heavy wooden boxes, i.e. wanigans, to carry cooking gear, food, etc. might have installed a few wanigan ribs on top of those ribs where the wanigans rested. Tom McCloud

Wish I could have got a better look , I'll see if i can find out more, but it looked to me like they were on every rib, sized beautifully and done professioally , they also look old like the age of the ribs.
