Duraglass?

A suggestion was made that on one of the hull planks near the top gunwale, just the top portion of the plank is rotting, that I could use Duraglass to strengthen and seal this 2"x4" area. That this would be easier than replacing the whole plank? Thoughts?

You can use duraglass

It will guarantee that the rotted part gets more so and spreads. It's probably harder to do than replacing the plank too. No kidding aside, Gil is right. Again.

I agree with everyone so far - a new piece of planking is the way to go. Put your joints centered on ribs, if possible, have a rib in the middle. Bevel your joints and you are good to go - confident that it will look and STAY good for a long time.
