I recently purchased a old town canoe it had no real identification left besides the serial number...I was told it was a tripper and I'm pretty sure it is from the limit research I've been able to do..so I'm hoping for maybe some additional info if possible...the # is
(XTC08885M75L)..There's some additional numbers up front...(208885)..

Welcome and congratulations, the Old Town canoe with hull identification number XTC08885M75L and serial number 208885 is a 17 foot long Chipewyan Tripper model that weighed 73 pounds. It was built in July, 1975. The original exterior color was blue. It shipped on July 25th, 1975 to Springfield, Massachusetts. A scan of this build record can be found below.

This scan and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will donate, join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See https://www.woodencanoe.org/about to learn more about the WCHA and https://www.woodencanoe.org/shop to donate or join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match the canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions. Have fun with it,

Benson
