Canoe carrier

I just acquired a 16' OT Yankee with no center thwart. As a recent cross-over guy from the wilderness trekking, light-weight-portage-everything mentality, my first thought was to find a suitable carved wooden carrying yoke and purchase some diamond head OT screws and make it a portage-able craft. But after some paddling I'm beginning to appreciate the open space that no center thwart provides.
It's quite a trek from the garage storage to the shore, however, and the local beaver and rabbits have demonstrated that leaving something of value on the shore is not an option (an old paddle now with a customized handle).

So now am considering a wheeled canoe carrier. The only two that I see on the market at first look are both made by Instep, or Pacific Outdoors.
Any suggestions ... either for the carrier idea or a good suitable carrying yoke?
thanks,
Stu
