Can anyone tell me what this is?

Hi All,

This is my first post here.
I bought this old Cedar Plank Canoe for 250$ and have restored it.
I was just wondering if someone made this custom or if a company made it (Like old town or such).

I would be very interested in knowing it's Origins and Era.

Regards,

Denis

It looks nice and is old and certainly worth restoration and use, but without more information it may be difficult to determine who made it. Where was it found? It was likely not made by a builder such as Old Town, as it has a keelson... but it appears well-made.

When I see a keelson I think Baker, a michigan builder. But I have no real idea. Decks look amatuer, lines look real nice.

I made the deck in the picture lol
Everything was rotten on both ends so I replaced the rot by cedar I had on hand.

I got it from a guy in Kinston Ontario. He had got it from someone else thinking to restore it.

Usually (though not always), canoes that have a keelson are homebuilt, following plans from a DIY magazine, such as Popular Mechanics.
