Boston man "lives in a canoe" (video)

Not really, but that's how it's described by CNN. He lives on a barge in the harbor, just off Logan Airport. Uses an aluminum canoe to transport his belongings back and forth to land. It'll be interesting to see if he's out there come February.

Agreed, anger is a odd reaction. I didn't see any in this particular story though, specifically.

Might be a little misdirected jealousy, or a twinge of middle class guilt that Americans in 2012 have to resort to that type of living situation for lack of other options.

Regardless... it sure ain't no million dollar "Sleepless in Seattle" houseboat!

Rather than anger, what I meant was more like "being judgmental", which I agree might be due to guilt or jealousy... or simply failure to understand that someone might actually WANT to (for instance) live in a hut beside Walden Pond, grow beans and eat an occasional woodchuck.

He is described as being from Maine in the article at http://www.pressherald.com/news/Mans-home-a-14-foot-canoe-in-Boston-Harbor-.html so has gotten some press in this area as well. There was a similar story at http://towndock.net/shippingnews/living-on-a-canoe from a few years ago. Wooden canoes don't seem to be popular with this group of paddlers. I just hope that I don’t ever end up like this but who knows…
