I find it interesting that people can get upset over the ways in which others live, when they aren't hurting anyone or anything...

Agreed, anger is a odd reaction. I didn't see any in this particular story though, specifically.

Might be a little misdirected jealousy, or a twinge of middle class guilt that Americans in 2012 have to resort to that type of living situation for lack of other options.

Regardless... it sure ain't no million dollar "Sleepless in Seattle" houseboat!
 
Rather than anger, what I meant was more like "being judgmental", which I agree might be due to guilt or jealousy... or simply failure to understand that someone might actually WANT to (for instance) live in a hut beside Walden Pond, grow beans and eat an occasional woodchuck.
 
I wondered if somebody would post this video here. He has a nice Filson hat and some good packs. Seem to know his stuff.
