a couple of build records please OT 222157 and OT 39150 EOM

The scanned Old Town records stop at 215999 around 1977 so none of us here have any newer information immediately available to help you with number 222157. You may be able to contact the customer service department at the Old Town Canoe Company and get a copy from their paper records if they are not too busy. This one should have a hull identification number that starts with XTC on the starboard stern with an encoded date if that helps. The information at http://www.boatsafe.com/nauticalknowhow/hin.htm should help you interpret these numbers.

The Old Town canoe with serial number 39150 is a 17 foot long, CS (common sense or middle) grade, Otca model with red western cedar planking, open spruce gunwales, birch decks, birch thwarts, birch seats, a keel, and a floor rack. It was built between July, 1915 and January, 1916. The original exterior paint color was bright red. It shipped on January 29th, 1916 to Newark, New Jersey. A scan of this build record can be found by following the link at the attached thumbnail image below.

This scan and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others as you probably know well. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/about-the-wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://store.wcha.org/WCHA-New-Membership.html to join.

It is possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description don't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
