67 Old Town Otica canvas showing on exterior

Curious about Wooden Canoes
Hi, I have a small spot of canvas showing on my canoe. Wondering what I could fill it with to patch the area. The canvas seems to be in good shape, I believe the paint has just started to chip. I'd like to patch it and possibly repaint.
1? What to patch with
2? What kind of paint can I use
3? Light sanding ok to exterior of boat

Thanks for any help

Here are some photos of the canvas showing. One of the pix is of the bottom where the keel is paint peeling

Hi Jen!
The first couple photos show a bad area of paint on the keel. That should be scraped and sanded so that all loose paint is removed. Then repaint 3-4 coats of a marine enamel paint.
Also any gaps along the keel should be filled in with a paintable caulk.
I’m not convinced that your canoe is canvassed. It’s pretty rough and could be fiberglass, or just a lot of old paint on the canvas, but to keep it floating, do the same as with the keel… scrape, sand, and paint.
The paint should seal up the open spots and keep it floating.
If it were mine, I’d remove the skin and recanvas it.
