Hi there, Dave and Peggy!
Sounds like a sweet canoe!
Old Town 10119 is a 16 foot AA grade Charles River model, built between November of 1908 and January of 1909. It has red Western cedar planking, mahogany double gunwales and a keel... was painted New Haven green and shipped to Bump Bear (??) in Brighamton, New York, on February 2, 1909.
The double gunwales would be a cool thing...I've only seen this in pictures. Has this part been replaced?
I'll attach the scan of this record below. I know you folks are members, but others reading this should know how much we appreciate donations toward projects such as this. Scans of approximately 210,000 records were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. Thanks - slow going though. I now have over half of it with both board and battens. I found something out today that made me feel good. Just for grins I asked how much the metal would cost for my building. Not including hardware etc. it was almost $1500. The cedar was $1050.
Granted it has been a lot of work but it sure is starting to look nice. Your lovely barn will be great too, and yours has such a neat history.
