Will it fit or is a Mod needed?

I have a 20' canoe with a 47" Beam 12" deep under the center Thwart.

I just bought a trailer, the bunks are 35" apart on the out side with an 8" drop.

The canoe is in need of repair and I'd like to not have to put it on then take it off to modify it.

This is my first boat trailer.

I don't want the keel to rest on the trailer and figure if I need to modify the bunk I get 2x6 board to replace the 2x4's puting the extra on the inside.

Kevin,

You didn't post pics but.......

Here in MN most older bunk trailers have bunks are can be moved to locations to fit the boat. Maybe your's can be too.

Also, what is the load capacity of the trailer, for a light canoe it shouldn't be too much or the canoe could get pounded apart.

Remember a canoe usually has curved surfaces, a straight ridgid 2x6 may not get good contact with the hull.

It'll work

Put it on yesterday, I need to add a strap or wedge on the rear of the bunk to support the canoe. Right now I have a racketing strap around the bunks craddling the canoe.
