Hi everyone, my father received an old old town canoe for free. We are trying to find out more about it , and the classic question of what its worth. The serial number is 15418-16. Its in decent shape and floats. Any and all info will be appreciated. Thank you

This number implies that you have a 16 foot long canoe but the build record for the Old Town with serial number 15418 shows an 17 foot long one. There may be a hidden digit before or after the 15418 so the information at http://forums.wcha.org/showthread.php?791 may help you find it. It would help if you could attach some pictures of the canoe, the bow deck area, and the numbers from each end. Is there a nameplate on the bow deck or any signs of nail holes from a lost brass tag? The Carleton Canoe Company issued serial number 15418 to a 16 foot long canoe and the Kennebec Canoe Company put this number on an 18 foot long canoe. Can you also provide tha actual overall length of the canoe? The information at http://forums.wcha.org/showthread.php?57 may help you put a value on it. Thanks,

Benson
