Greetings, Scottie--
Old Town 142682 is a 16 foot CS (common sense or middle) grade Yankee model canoe that was completed August-November 1945 with red Western cedar planking, open spruce gunwales, ash decks, ash thwarts, ash seats and a keel. Original color was fire red. It was shipped to Campbell's Boat Livery in Rome City, Indiana, on November 26, 1945. Image of the scan of this record is attached below-- click on it to get a larger image.
This scan and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available athttp://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
There is considerable information on the Yankee model contained in the archives of this board, and it can be accessed by using the "search" function. You may also want to look at posts regarding war era canoes, as these boats were built with some different materials due to war shortages. I like the fact that your canoe still has its war-era seats. I also find it interesting that this canoe was ordered the month WWII ended and was shipped to a livery-- someone decided those returning GIs would need and deserve some relaxation on the water!
If you decide to fix 'er up yourself, there are many here who can assist in that project. The Yankee is a nice all-around model. Otherwise, best of luck finding her a new home.
