I'm fairly new to this forum, and was looking for advice on converting/adapting my 17' OTCA for sailing. If anyone has a kit, or could direct me to where I might be able to acquire one, I'd appreciate the help. Thanks Dave Brown

Many of the restorers listed at would be willing to help you assemble a sailing rig. Scott Barkdoll of the Skywoods Canoe Company even lists one on his price list at Rig for example. My experience is that you can often buy an old canoe with a sail rig for very close to what you can resell the canoe alone without the sail rig. There are often a few things missing so you may need to find a few to get all the parts you want. Dan Miller's page at is a nice reference guide if you aren't sure what you need. Good luck,

A nearly complete donated Old Town sailing rig will be offered at the WCHA Assembly auction.

I will be posting pictures in the next few days.

I don't know if the whole rig will be offered as one auction lot, or if parts of the rig will be offered in a number of auction lots -- that's up to Andre Cloutier and the others who are in charge of the auction/raffle.
