mystery canoe

Michael Leone

You call that a sail?
Can anyone identifi this bent veneer canoe?
the inwales and outwales are birch or maple, closed.
the veneer strips on the hull might be mohogany, they are five inches wide
and run at a diaganal to the four inch wide oak center rib.
the for and aft decks are birch or maple, see images of decks in my
previous post (what the heck is it?)

Michael,

I suspect that your canoe is a "Chestnut Deluxe moulded mahogany canoe". What is the overall length, beam and centre depth of the canoe?

dimentions

the overall length is 16 feet, the beem is 36 inches and the draft is
approx. 11 inches.
the thwarts are oak and it has a bent oak keel 1 3/4 inches deep.

Michael,
The measurements fits with the ones listed in Chestnut's 1964 catalog. See below.
