Ice off on Bowron lakes

Nachako

Curious about Wooden Canoes
I am hoping to do a little trip with my son in May
Before he gets to that age were it is all about working and paying for school .
Life we have all been there .
Does any one have an idea when the lake become ice free
I haven't been over there since my tree planting days 30+ yrs ago

Thanks Paul

There are no set dates for ice out but Bowron is normally ice free by mid-May.... the later you go the safer you are...

Get on the water by very early June, while there is still snow on the mountains (very scenic) and waterfalls. The longer you wait the more people will arrive and campsites (there are not that many and you may have to share) fill up.

Here's a shot from early June, to show what I mean. You'll have mountain weather (some rain, if short, most days) and some of the campsites will be wet, but it's worth it.

Thanks for the info.
Why I asked. Is that me and my son start work on the first of June.
I work in Lake Louise and the ice doesn’t come off that lake until the first week of June
Hence the back to work in June.
