I am looking to get a copy of the original build sheet of the following canoes:

1956 17' Old Town AA Grade OTCA
Serial No: 164275

The second I don't know the year or type. I am almost positive its an Old Town.

The Old Town canoe with serial number 164275 is a 17 foot long, AA grade, Otca model with a keel and a floor rack. It was built between November, 1955 and January, 1956. The original exterior paint color was bright red. It shipped on April 10th, 1956 to Lewistown, Penna. It appears that it was damaged in shippping because it was returned on May 24th, 1956, repaired in July, 1956, and resold to Baltimore, Maryland on July 26th or 27th, 1956 as shown on the back side of the card.

The Old Town canoe with serial number 75062 is a 17 foot long, CS grade, HW (Heavy Water) model with western red cedar planking, open spruce gunwales, birch decks, birch trim, and a keel. It was built between 1922 and February, 1923. The original exterior paint color was dark green. It shipped on March 21st, 1923 to Philadelphia, Penna.

It is interesting that a 1933 Old town Canoe that we are researching was sent to the same address as the possible Old Town that you are researching. Now I am going to have to find out what this company was. You never know how the world is connected

The Edward K. Tryon Company was a retailer - a sporting goods store if I am not mistaken. They sold a lot of Old Town canoes.

Thanks to Benson and all that helped out and/or posted to my request!

I am new to restoration and the circle of outstanding people who are connected with it. I am constantly amazed at the out going nature and willingness of those connected to pass on any little tid bit of knowledge that they have gained during their journey which I am just beginning.

I hope that eventually I can in turn, by involvement in my membership in the WCHA to give back and pass on as they have to me.

Edw K tryon company

The Edward K. Tryon company was a sporting goods retailer that was located at 912 Chestnut street in Philadelphia. The Free Library of Philadelphia has pictures of the 900 block of Chestnut street around the late 1920's/early 1930's. Philadelphia's elite had "personal shoppers" that would shop for them. This retailer was a favorite among the "shoppers" because it carried a very wide selection of sporting goods. On the internet you can find fishing lures, bicycles and the such listed for sale at this company. I have not had enough time to dig thru all the library archives to get the full picture.

The Old Town canoe with serial number 174074 is a 16 foot long Otca model with a keel and narrow two and 3/4 inch planking. It was built between July and November, 1965. The original exterior paint color was red. It shipped on March 26th, 1965 to San Francisco, California.
