13.5' Huron

Curious about Wooden Canoes
Hi All;

A while back, I was trying to identify a canoe I am restoring.
I am now 95% sure it is a Huron, 13.5'.
Does anyone have photos of onethey could post.
In particular, I'm looking to see the decks and the inwale taper.
My inwales have been cut back about a foot and the deck is arrow shaped.
I would like it to be as close to original as possible, other than a centre seat for solo, instead of two seats.

Also, were can I purchase removeable portage yokes, preferably ash to match my inwale?

Thank-You

Rob Kozak

Huron canoe

Huron canoe inwales end 6.75" before the stem and are not tapered. The arrow head shaped decks are 1.25" thick x 14" long. Just on my way out but I may have pictures if you need them.

Hi Dave;

Pictures would be great, thank-you.
I picked up my lumber from Dick Persson this weekend and
am planning on scarfing in new stems soon.

Rob

P.S. Thanks Dick for your help. The screwdriver/prybar worked great for removing the planking.

13.5 Huron deck

Hi Rob K.
Had a look for you and found several deck pictures of restored canoes but they all have the inwale cap on. Searched a bit more and found a full size paper deck template I had copied from a 13.5 Huron. Can't do better than that! Email me your mailing address and and I'll send you copys n/c.
