Compare the serial number at both ends, as 170718 is a 17 foot canoe and this may be the wrong record.
Old Town 170718 is a 17 foot Otca model canoe, finished from December 1960 to May 1961, painted design #4 and shipped to Marlin Marine on Robert Street in West St. Paul, MN on May 18, 1961.

You may want to check the digits in the serial number again as Kathy suggested. My guess is that you may have the Old Town canoe with serial number 170713. This is a 16 foot long Otca model with a keel. It was built between December, 1960 and February, 1961. The original exterior paint color was dark green. It was shipped on March 6th, 1961 to Horseheads, New York. A scan of this build record can be found by following the link at the attached thumbnail image below.
