You may need to take a closer look at the digits in that number if you are looking for a canoe's build record. Some of the tricks described at http://forums.wcha.org/showthread.php?791 may help. The Old Town with serial number 183706 was assigned to a 13 foot long slalom kayak that shipped to Lake Placid, New York in 1970. Can you attach a picture of the serial numbers from each end or at least indicate which digit is the least clear? Thanks,

OK, now the lady says the number is 132106 . I don't think I am going to comment about her need for glasses. What does this turn ot to be?

The Old Town canoe with serial number 132106 is an 17 foot long, CS (common sense or middle) grade, Otca model with open spruce gunwales, birch decks, birch thwarts, birch seats, a keel, and a floor rack. It was built between April, 1941 and January, 1942. The original exterior paint color was light Yale blue. It was shipped on January 7th, 1942 to Detroit, Michigan. This scan and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others as you probably know well.
