The Old Town canoe with serial number 171647 a 15 foot long 50 pound model. It was built between December 1961 and February 1962. The original exterior paint color was dark green . It was shipped to Bangor, Maine on May 7, 1962. A scan of this build record can be found by following the link behind the thumbnail image attached below. The back of the build record shows that it was returned for repairs in April 1963 and shipped back to its owner on April 26, 1963. There was also a letter concerning this canoe in June, 1973.
This scan and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details.
