Hello, I am wondering if you can research this one?
Its an old town OTCO 164121-16

Thanks so much. I will be restoring this boat over the next 2 months (or more...).

Love those Yakima Racks!

Some may be able to envision what happened to this poor canoe after it left the factory... "reading between the lines" this seems to be the story:

Old Town 164121 is a 16 foot AA (mahogany, or "top") grade Otca, constructed between October and December of 1955. It was fitted with a keel and floor rack and painted Yale Blue. Initially, it was to be shipped to Washington Supply Co. in New Milford, Connecticut... but A.A. Fantini of New City, NY apparently showed up at the factory and had it strapped on his car... which appears to have been a mistake, because in a month, the canoe is back for repairs to "chaffed canvas" and broken cane in the bow seat, and cost for repairs appear to have been absorbed by Old Town ("claim made")... who then delivered the canoe to the buyer's door.

I'll attach copies of the scans of front and back of this canoe's record. It appears to match your canoe, but if it doesn't seem right to you, we can try again. Did you buy it from a fellow who cautioned you about strapping the canoe on the car?

Scans of approximately 210,000 records were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. Additional information about the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details.
