I've had this boat since the 70's but not sure of it's age. It's an Old Town Guide (I think) Serial Number 128511 18. Hope you can help.
Thanks, Rick

The Old Town canoe with serial number 128511 is an 18 foot long, AA (or top) grade, HW (Heavy Water) model with open mahogany gunwales, mahogany decks, mahogany decks, mahogany thwarts, a keel, and a floor rack. It was built between December, 1939 and July, 1941. The original exterior paint was dark green. It shipped on May 6th, 1942 to Allentown, Penna. A scan of this build record can be found by following the link at the attached thumbnail image below.

This scan and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/join.php to join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.

I'm sure you found the correct record, as everything matches, except it was painted with a pattern (Indian colors) over fiberglass when found in 1975. It was re-canvassed and painted Green in 1987. I just took it out of a garage where it had again been stored since 1989 and hope to get it back on the water. Thanks again for your help!
