Canoe Restorations
I'm restoring a 17' 7" Oldtown square stern lake boat. The serial number appears to be 188420. Am I able to receive a copy of the build record? Thanks. .

Certainly, but you may want to take another look at your numbers or provide a picture since the Old Town with serial number 188420 is an 18 foot long FG (fiberglass) model canoe. It was built between January and February, 1972. The original exterior gelcoat color was avocado green on the hull with sandalwood tan on the decks and the weight was 93 pounds. It shipped on March 21st, 1972 to Glen Burnie, Maryland. The back side of the record shows that it had some shrinkage in the bow and the warranty card was returned from Westminster, Maryland. Scan showing both sides of of this build record can be found by following the links at the thumbnail images attached below.

This scan and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/join.php to renew.

It is likely that you have another number or manufacturer since this description doesn't match your boat. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.

Doubble checking the serial number on the canoe finally yielded the correct match. Serial number 183420 belongs to a 1969 Square End 18’ canoe. Thanks.

So it sounds like you already have a copy of the build record attached below.
