Old Town 154894 is a 15 foot CS grade ("common sense", or not trimmed in mahogany) Ojibway model canoe, built between October 1950 and July 1952. It was planked in red Western cedar and has open spruce gunwales. The wood species used for decks, thwarts, and seat frames isn't specified on the build record, but with CS grade canoes birch and ash are commonly used. The canoe was painted aluminum and shipped to Mac-Do Lodge in Lake Delavan, Wisconsin on August 15, 1952.
Using the "search" function to check the archives for "Old Town Ojibway", I found this statement by Benson Gray: "The wooden Ojibway model was never advertised in the catalogs but appears to have been built on the same form as the fifty pound, lightweight, and trapper models. Please post some pictures if you can, especially of the decks since these occasionally had an unusual integrated hand hold."
So... pictures of your canoe would be very welcome and would help us learn more about this model!
