I was asked to post this:
We would like to start an Appalachian Foothills chapter of WCHA. The chapter would draw from a geographic area including Atlanta, GA, Chattanooga in eastern Tennessee and perhaps as far east as Asheville, NC. There are excellent opportunities for day and overnight paddling in this tri-state area, and several people in Atlanta are already members of WCHA.
Tentative plans are for an initial meeting / paddle on the Chattahoochee River August 2nd. Plan to meet at the Azalea Drive boat ramp in Roswell, GA at 5pm and paddle couple of miles on this slow and scenic section of the Chattahoochee, followed by a cookout at the covered pavilion adjacent to the boat ramp. Short meet and greet to discuss goals and focus of new chapter will follow.
