New canoe but no clue

Hi,
I just picked up my first wooden canoe and stumbled upon this site. There seems to be a wealth of information here! I have actually built several kayaks (stitch and glue as well as skin on frame) and appreciate the work that goes into building these great canoes and kayaks.

So, I'm new to canoes and tired to figure out what I have. I was wondering if someone might be able to help me identify the boat I have (I could find no marking etc).

Thanks in advance for the help!

Most likely a Thompson Hiawatha, I take it that center thwart is not original. You might be able to spot an outline of a rectangular metal tag that used to be on the bow deck, though a few of them had decals. Attached is image of one I fixed up a while back.

Thanks for the info! I looked at some examples on google images and have to agree. I guess there is no way to determine the actual age without the deck plate..
The one you restored looks great! I'm thinking about trying a restoration on mine once things slow down a little.

Thanks again!
